Hurricane Irene

My first Hurricane was coming. Spent 2 days preparing the for Hurricane Irene to hit. We rode it out in a condo at North West Creek Marina, New Bern, NC. Well, I couldn't resist going to the marina to check things out. She hit Cape Lookout Island at 7:45 in the morning. The water rose very quickly here. Storm surge, 7 feet. Great crew at the marina worked the docklines, which were under water, till late that night. At 9:30 PM I was starting to wonder if it would ever end. It finally did. No damage to Continuum. Thank God. The people in the pic are our friends that rode it out with us. Bill Chapel and his son Billy. Thats Mona in the middle.
